1. Check all travel details are correct when documents are received from the holiday organiser.

2. Make sure your home is secure before leaving it and you have asked a relative or neighbour to look after your property while you are away.

3. Take all necessary medications and sun tan lotion.

4. Leave yourself enough time for the journey especially if catching trains, planes or ferries.

5. If travelling by car, have it serviced or holiday checked before your holiday.

6. Check that passports are still valid at least 6 months prior to travel.

7. Check which inoculations you need if travelling worldwide at least 3 months prior to travel.

8. Take out travel insurance once you have paid your deposit as the cancellation cover will be needed from then.
